Tillamook School District #9

Welcome to Liberty Elementary!

We are a K-1 building in Tillamook, Oregon that houses 320 kindergarten and first grade students; with one Preschool Promise class of 20 students.  We have currently have six full sessions of kindergarten taught by six teachers and six full sessions of first grade taught by six teachers.  Liberty is a school-wide Title I building with services for students who need extra support in reading and math skills.

Our mission at Liberty is to:
  • provide a positive and safe environment for learning
  • develop creative, competent and self-directed critical thinkers
  • prepare our children for an information rich future
  • build self-confidence and success through physical and mental well being
  • involve students in cultural experiences through arts
  • promote appreciation of cultural diversity and  individual uniqueness

Our vision and values at Liberty is to:
  • create a safe, mutually respectful, and nurturing environment where students feel comfortable taking risks and work toward becoming successful learners and contributing citizens
  • provide cultural experiences and  promote diversity and uniqueness
  • ensure students will leave with skills to be enthusiastic lifelong learners

All Liberty staff members excel at working as a team through grade-level planning and collaborating of curriculum, ideas, and strategies that challenge and excite our children. In addition, all classrooms have an Activboard (interactive white board) which allows our students a multitude of technological experiences from the very beginning of their education. Many of the classrooms also incorporate the use of ipods and ipads into curriculum as well. For continuity in teaching appropriate conduct, the entire school shares the same rules: “Be safe, Be responsible, and Be respectful”. Classes are rewarded tokens for following these school rules, and class-wide and school-wide celebrations are held when token goals are met.

Most importantly, at Liberty Elementary we strive to challenge and inspire our students to do their best in all that they do, and be life long learners. It is an honor and privilege to be working with these children who are our future.
