Code of Student Conduct

In accordance with the Tillamook School District #9 policy, both Liberty and South Prairie Schools have adopted rules and regulations for the management of student behavior, suspension and expulsion of students.  These rules and regulations are intended to promote an atmosphere within the school which is conducive to learning as well as to insuring the protection of the rights of students.  Inherent to a democratic society is the fact that rights entail responsibilities, self‑respect, and respect for others.  These are major goals of this code.  Students have the right to avail themselves of a free public education; however, students have the responsibility not to interfere with the education of other students.
During the course of the school year, there may be times that a student is out of control or refuses to go to the office when sent.  If this should occur, the principal or another person/team will arrive to assess the situation and provide support so that instruction may continue either within the classroom or if necessary outside the classroom with a room clear.  Following a room clear the teacher will process with the class to be sure all students feel safe.

Visiting: Parents are welcome to visit their children’s classroom.  These visits must, however, be pre-arranged in advance and authorized by the principal so that the instructional process is not interrupted for other children. Verification will be made to assure that no unauthorized person(s) enter the school.  (SD#9 policy KK)  Children who are not students are not allowed to stay at school.  The exception is having lunch with an accompanying adult.

Field Trips:  Students who are not being safe, respectful, and responsible at school or on the bus may be excluded from field trip opportunities. Alternate placement will be provided if a student is not permitted to attend a field trip. Chaperones and their students are expected to take district transportation, follow the school dress code, pass a criminal background check (through the district office), and are to refrain from use of alcohol, drugs, and tobacco during the field trip. Siblings, not acting as chaperones, are not permitted to attend field trips.
